Memory of the Hometown
My hometown is Shenyang, a city in northeastern China. The latitude of Shenyang is similar with that of Rochester, NY, where I am living in right now. Most things I am experiencing in Rochester is different from that in Shenyang, such as speaking English other than Chinese, seeing western style buildings and driving myself instead of taking public transports.
Living in Rochester, the only same thing with my hometown is the weather. It snows heavily in both cities. The snowflakes are same, white, pure and covering everything. I enjoy the landscape when the branches are covered by snow. I took a picture of that and included in my brooch.
As I lived in my hometown for 20 years since I was born, it influences me on several aspects such as my language, accent, favorite food, characteristic, personality and even my view of life. Memory of the hometown is reflected in many aspects in everyone’s life. That is the inspiration for me to include mirrors in the brooch.
